ADVENTURE IN NATURE FOR ALL THE FAMILY
Rafting
Rafting with Adventure Norway is on the Mandal River starting in Bjelland. The river is grade 2/3 which makes it an ideal choice for people wishing to try rafting for the first time. While the river gives us lots of fun and surprises it is an extremely safe river which allows us to take children from 6 years old.
We have experienced and highly trained guides who are annually updated with river rescue and safety courses. The guides make the trip so if your looking for more adventure and excitement let them know, they have a multitude of games and adventures that you can take part in as we raft down the river. br>

Pro Rafting
The 2 man pro rafts offer greater challenges as you have to control the boat yourself and you have to work with your partner. You will either have a guide with you or be part of a flotilla with rafts.
We meet at Adventure Norway rafting centre in Hessa, you will be given a brief about the trip We start on a section of flat water where we take time to cover all the safety aspects and prepare everyone for the trip.
The pro raft trip then takes us 6km down the unspoilt Mandal river, away from the bustle of everyday life. We finish back at Hessa, get changed and enjoy reflections of the trip over a coffee or cold drink. br>

Climbing
Just a short walk from our centre in Hessa, we have a great climbing crag on the banks of the Mandal River. There is a selection of bolted climbs with top ropes and several free climbs. We are further developing the climbing area this season with several multi pitch routes.
The climbing is suitable for people with no previous experience. We meet at the rafting centre in Hessa and have a 15 minute briefing. Then we fit harnesses and walk 400m to the crag. After a safety brief we start by learning the fig8 knot and how to belay (protect the person climbing). Once all the safety is complete we spend time climbing and practising different technique. br>

Abseiling
Just a short walk from our centre in Hessa, we have a great climbing crag on the banks of the Mandal River. From the top of the crag we have a 30metre abseil with an overhang allowing the last 10metres free abseil.
To abseil is a method of descending a cliff under your own control. You will receive all the safety information and training then you control your own descent. Your guide will have you on a safety rope throughout and have control of you, so you have double security. In this controlled environment abseiling is 100% safe. Although you know your 100% safe the adrenalin still kicks in as you step backwards of a 30 metre high cliff. br>

Wire
Just 3 minutes walk south of the rafting centre in Hessa we have a 70 metre long wire spanning the Mandal River. The wire is between 4 and 8 metres above the river. From the west bank you are clipped onto a runner on the wire from your harness.
Then a big step into the unknown and you're speeding across the river like superman. You come to a stop at the far end and are pulled back. br>

Canoeing
From the rafting centre in Hessa our canoe tours start. The river is grade 1 on this section, it is moving but no waves. This makes it suitable for people with no previous canoe experience.
The tour is 6km and finishes on the banks of Manfla Lake. Our canoes have 3 seats and are suitable for 2 adults and a child. This tour lasts about 3 hours, but you can hire the canoe for the whole day and explore further upstream and around the lake taking a picnic with you. br>

Elk Safari
The Norwegian elk are beautiful wild animals. They live in the forest alone or in small groups. They are shy animals and therefore quite elusive. This is our 5th year of running safaris and we now have a good knowledge of where and when to find our local elk.
We meet at the rafting centre in Hessa, Bjelland at 10pm where we give a 15minute presentation on the elk, their habits and habitat. The safari takes approximately 2 hours and we travel about 30km. We will be in the minibus for the duration of the safari so suitable clothing is all you require. You can take binoculars and cameras. br>
